Twin Brothers with a ‘Ford Fusion' Sister
Writer: hedzilla Photographer: chris By: Ian Thornton
The words Mercury and custom car don’t usually go hand in hand. This offspring of Ford enters the market looking for customers that desire a little more refinement than its big brother offers. Mercury’s sister of the Ford Fusion is the new Milan. Sorry Ford Fusion owners, but your quiet cousin just got invited to a party. Xtreme Auto Interiors turns the once timid Milan into a classy street tuner…minus the gaudy graphics and obscene wing of course.
It is one thing to customize a car so it stands out from the crowd and draws attention. But occasionally you see a car that stands out in style, a car that is customized subtly enough that auto enthusiasts notice it and state troopers don’t. This is exactly what Xtreme auto interiors did with the pair of Milan’s they got their hands on. Smile Five Hundred owners, your cousin is now wearing a tuxedo.

Upon first glance of the silver Milan, you notice the center of the hood has been painted graphite and sweeps over the car. This draws attention from the front grille to the back of the car and truly accentuates its oncoming appearance. Upon further investigation of the outside, you notice the 18” chrome rims with low profile tires to match the 2” drop the car has. Around back, trunk emblems have been removed and the twin polished stainless-steel mufflers add both style and sound. The very observant will notice the small rear view camera in the bumper which rids the driver of any blind spots.
Glancing inside, the first change you will detect is the seats. After all, you think an interior company would customize just the outside of the car? The two tone leather wraps the front and rear seats and each are accented with embroidery. The colors match the original interior color scheme perfectly, and it’s difficult to realize that the seats were not a factory installed option. A DVD player and navigation system makes use of the dash mounted monitor and the rear headrest monitors. To add even more to the interior, the shifter was also customized along with the stealing wheel with custom paint and leather.

The black Milan is similar in its custom parts, but appears to be an entirely different car. Black wheels with a large chrome lip set this car off instantly and the custom red pin striping on the wheels match the stripe on the car. In place of the dual exhaust on the silver Milan is a single muffler with dual tips, and the rear taillights have been painted to make them appear smaller. The interior was also fully customized, and the colors of the leather interior mimic the outer appearance. This whole package is wrapped up with a custom ‘Milan Xtreme’ emblem on the trunk. This Milan is the more classy of the pair, and perfect for fans of Xtreme’s designs that are looking for a slightly more mature ride.
The average person would be hard-pressed to realize that either of these cars did not come right off your local Mercury dealer’s showroom floor. The craftsmanship and flow of all the custom parts blend flawlessly with the car, and bring a generic family sedan to a more performance minded crowd. Getting too old for that street tuner you have now, but still want something custom and refined? Find out what Xtreme Auto Interiors can do for you.
